Kailee's Funky 8th Birthday Cake

A cousin asked me to do a cake for her daughter, which I was given free reign. I thought I would try something a little funky- and since I LOVED the zebra print cake from a few weeks back, I figured it was the best time to give it another shot.

The bottom (9 inch) teir is a dark chocolate cake, filled with chocolate buttercream and crumbcoated with buttercream. I marbled the fondant with a hot pink and white- then "sponge painted" using paste color. I made the "8" the night before using fondant and tylose- I was worried it wouldn't be dried enough to hold it's shape, but thankfully, it had. Added feather boa for little extra funky!!!

Thank you to polka dot cakes for lending me her design!!!!
